Convert any PDF into a fully editable Microsoft Word (.docx) document in seconds. Our PDF to Word converter preserves paragraphs, headings, tables, bullet lists and inline images so you can rework contracts, resumes, invoices and reports without retyping a single line. Text runs stay selectable, fonts remap to their closest Word equivalents, and every conversion is processed on our own servers — never uploaded to a third-party API.

Common ways to use PDF to Word

Edit a signed contract

Open the PDF in Word, redline clauses, then export a fresh version — much faster than rebuilding the whole document from scratch.

Update an old resume

Turn last year’s PDF résumé back into a Word file, refresh the summary, add a new role, and email a modern .docx to recruiters.

Reuse a research report

Pull charts, tables and quotes from a published PDF into your own Word draft while keeping the layout close to the original.

Translate a document

Send an editable .docx to a translator instead of a locked PDF — the translated draft flows back with minimal formatting cleanup.

Rebrand a template

Swap logos, colours and headings on a PDF template that was created years ago in InDesign or LaTeX and no source file is available.

PDF to Word — frequently asked questions

Will formatting stay the same?

Layout for text-heavy PDFs (contracts, letters, reports) is preserved very well. Multi-column magazine layouts or forms with lots of hand-drawn boxes may need small clean-up in Word after conversion.

Can I convert a scanned PDF?

A pure image PDF has no text layer, so a straight PDF→Word conversion returns an empty .docx. Run it through our OCR PDF tool first — that produces text that our PDF to Word converter can then style into headings and paragraphs.

Is there a file size limit?

Every conversion accepts files up to 100 MB and there is no page limit. Very large PDFs (500+ pages) may take up to a minute.

Which Word versions are supported?

Output is a modern .docx file that opens cleanly in Word 2010, Word 2013, Word 2016, Word 2019, Word 2021, Microsoft 365, Google Docs, Apple Pages 10+ and LibreOffice Writer.

Do you keep my files?

No. Uploaded PDFs and converted Word files are wiped from disk within one hour, and we never train models or index any content you upload.

Pro tips for PDF to Word

  • For best fidelity, upload PDFs generated directly from Word or Google Docs (not screenshots re-saved as PDF).
  • If your PDF is password-protected, remove the password with our Unlock PDF tool first — encrypted PDFs cannot be converted.
  • Combine multi-file bank statements or lecture notes with Merge PDF before converting, so you end up with a single Word document.
