The version we output does not embed alpha, so transparent pixels become white.

Can BMP handle modern colour depths?

Yes — 24-bit (16.7M colours) is standard. We can also emit 32-bit BMP with alpha on request.

Will I ever need BMP today?

Only if a specific piece of software or hardware demands it. For everything else, PNG or WEBP is better.

What resolution can I convert?

Up to 10,000 × 10,000 pixels; anything larger should stay in JPG/PNG.
